In preparation for the winter months, let’s make sure we keep that skin hydrated and refreshed! These aftershave recipes are exactly what you need.

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 cup of Rum (use white for a clear look, dark for an amber look)
  • Witch Hazel
  • 1/4 cup of Isopropyl Alcohol (We use 91% for some zing!)
  • Essential Oils
  • 1/8 cup of Glycerin

Preparation:

Yields: About 2/3 cup. Start by adding rum and glycerin to the 1/4 line on your measuring cup. Then, go ahead and add the Isopropyl Alcohol to the 1/2 cup line. Add Witch Hazel to just about the 2/3 cup line. Add in the Essential Oils of your choice.

We like to use lemongrass, lime, and lemon for an Asian-citrus blend. Or we opt for a mixture of spearmint, peppermint, eucalyptus, and camphor. You are only limited by your imagination and essential oil budget! Please note, this aftershave will need to be shaken at each use, as the ingredients will separate.

Cedar Leather & Rum Aftershave

Ingredients:

Preparation:

Just mix the ingredients in a glass measuring cup and decant them into a bottle.  As for bottles, get creative! We enjoy finding new uses for old items such as vinegar and oil cruets, glass syrup bottles, hot sauce bottles, and anything else that catches our eye! Then, we generally label them with a tag including which oils were used, and advise them to shake before using. These seem to age well without problems, even after a few months. For the best results, store this aftershave in a cool, dry place.
