Ever wonder how to make those jelly air fresheners? They make fantastic gifts, particularly for a housewarming! They are super easy, and you can customize them to your favorite scent WITHOUT adding the harmful chemicals you don’t want. Just follow the recipe below and store it in the room of your choice. You can even hide them in your car for a fresh-smelling vehicle!
Ingredients:
15-20 Drops of Essential Oil— Choose the oil you like most. Everyone tends to like a different scent, but Eucalyptus Essential Oil & Vanilla Essential Oil are popular room scents. Around the holidays, you can get creative with a Peppermint Essential Oil or Pine Oil.
2 cups of Water
Food Coloring (Optional)
4 packages of Gelatin (Plain)
2 teaspoons of Salt
Steps:
Boil 1 cup of water in a non-stick pan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add Essential Oil. 15 drops will give you a healthy scent, but if you are sensitive to smells, add less. You would also add food coloring at this point if you want the final product to look a certain color. Skip this step if you are planning on hiding the freshener.
Pour gelatin into the water and stir until dissolved. Add two teaspoons of salt to prevent mold.
Pour the remaining 1 cup of water into the mix. Stir slowly.
Pour the mix into your glass jar, cover, and let sit for 3 days. After 3 days, the mixture is cured. Cover with a perforated lid to let the scent fill the air. Use wherever needed!
This is a great alternative to diffusers, and you can make smaller quantities to hide in each room. Enjoy!
