To kick off April as our month of Sustainability, we bring you our first recipe: a DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner! It works great and smells even better.

Plus, it’s one of the easiest recipes we’ve ever made here on our blog!

Ingredients

– 1 1/3 cup Baking Soda

– 1/2  cup Citric Acid

– 50 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil (we also added Orange Sweet)

+ Jar to store in (We used our 18 oz. candle jar)

Instructions

In a large bowl, add the citric acid and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Mix.

Add essential oil of choice in quantity of about 50 drops (measure with your heart).

Stir and eliminate all clumps.

Then, place mixture into an airtight container for future use.

Use

Measure out about two tablespoons and add directly to toilet bowl.

Allow to bubble and fizz for a few moments.

You may then flush or use liquid to scrub sides of toilet and then flush.

This DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner is a great way to ditch the plastic, know exactly which “chemicals” you’re using in your home, and a great step towards greater self-reliance.

We didn’t know toilet bowl cleaner was something you could DIY but now that we do we’re never going back.

Try it!
