Thank you for taking the time to share more about your business with us and the maker community. Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your journey with Indeu Apothecary? We’d love to hear how you started creating artisan skincare, soaps, and candles.
My name is Eudy Paredes, and I am the owner of Indeu Apothecary. My brand was established four years ago during the challenging times of the pandemic lockdown. Although I’ve always dreamed of creating my own soap and different skincare products, it wasn’t until 2020 that I began formulating products as a hobby and giving samples to family and friends.
After my friends, and family tested and fell in love with our products, I launched my website. Once the farmers market reopened in 2021, I decided to join them to connect and engage with my local community. Quickly after that, our brand obtained popularity with the community, two years later I decided to open a brick and mortar in Downtown Orlando.
Wow, turning a dream into reality is truly inspiring! What sparked your passion for creating and selling your artisan skincare, soaps, and candles? We’d love to know what motivated you to start Indeu Apothecary and share your unique creations with the world.
Nature. I’m from Puerto Rico, an island surrounded by stunning beaches and natural beauty. As a nature enthusiast, I’ve always been inspired to create skincare products that are conscious of the earth and your skin. Using ingredients that are easy to pronounce, and sustainable plastic-free packaging.
We love that you’re committed to using natural ingredients and helping to reduce plastic in your packaging. What is one of your favorite ingredients from Bulk Apothecary that you use in your skincare, soaps, or candles?
One of my favorite Bulk Apothecary products is the Body and Linen Spray Base. It has a great component of ingredients, and I love how long-lasting it is with my fragrance blend. Another of my favorites from Bulk Apothecary is the variety of oils, I use a selection of Castor, Jojoba, Avocado and Coconut Oil as the main base of my best-selling product which is our body oil.
Out of all the amazing products you’ve created, what’s your personal favorite? Whether it’s a skincare item, soap, or candle, we’d love to know which one holds a special place for you and why.
My favorite product is candles. To me, candles not only bring fragrance/scent to a space, but it’s a personal ritual. Each candle reminds me of a person, a place, or an emotion.
What’s one piece of advice that has been instrumental in helping you grow your artisan brand? We’re sure other makers in the community would love to hear your insights.
One piece of advice that has helped me is to stay true to your core values and vision. When I started my brand I was passionate about making products that are conscious of the earth and the skin. Focusing on your vision and values will keep you motivated even when facing challenges. Being commented on my vision and values has been the key to sustaining and growing my business.
That’s excellent advice! On the topic of challenges, what are some of the biggest hurdles you’ve faced while growing Indeu Apothecary and building your artisan product line?
The most challenging part about running a business is marketing, especially as a small business we always need to improve the way we attract new customers and make our product known.
What’s your favorite part of the creative process when crafting your products? And on the flip side, is there a part of the process you find most challenging or least enjoyable?
My favorite part of the creative process is taking pictures of my products. I love photography, and when its time to make pictures for my website I love having the creativity of playing with lights, ingredients, and other components to capture the perfect picture. On the other hand, my least favorite part is doing inventory for each different product.
