Belles Enchanted Rose Soap Bar Recipe

How excited are you about the new Beauty and the Beast movie? I’ve already purchased my movie tickets! This Friday can’t come soon enough.

In honor of one of my favorite childhood movies, I’ve decided to make this beautiful and elegant rose soap bar topped with rose buds and petals.

There are hundreds, even thousands of different soap recipes you can find in books and online. I used Shea Butter in this recipe. It’s one of my favorites. I also used Be Enchanted fragrance oil. The name seemed so fitting for this recipe. Feel free to use your favorite soap base and fragrance/essential oil in any of our recipes. We would love to hear the combinations you choose.

Let’s get started. My little helper “Princess Belle” and I had so much fun preparing this enchanting soap recipe for you.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

1 lb Stephenson Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
Be Enchanted Fragrance Oil
Shimmer Red Blue Melt and Pour Color Block
Perfect Red Melt and Pour Color Block
Rose Soap Mold
Rose Buds and Petals  – Red

Instructions:

Step 1. Cut soap base into small chunks and microwave on high on 30 second intervals (set aside 8-10 chunks to reserve for the white layering look). Add 1 color block of the Shimmer Red Blue Color and microwave until smooth. If you are happy with this color move onto step 2. I was trying to achieve a richer red color, so I added 1/2 block of the Perfect Red color. Repeat the melting process (the new color was exactly what I was looking for). Add the fragrance oil and blend together.

Step 2. Slowly pour red color into the rose soap mold. Set aside. Melt the reserved shea butter and add 10 more drops of fragrance oil into the soap base. Slowly pour on top of the red soap and add the dried botanicals. Press into the soap. The rose buds and petals really complete this look. Add the remainder melted shea butter on top of the dried botanicals.

Step 3. Add the dried botanicals. Press into the soap. The rose buds and petals really complete this look. Add the remainder melted shea butter on top of the dried botanicals.

Look at how beautiful that layered look is! The dried botanicals even enhanced the amazing smell of Belles Enchanted Rose Soap Bars.

I hope you enjoyed this recipe as much as I did. I can’t wait to package these favors for our Beauty and the Beast movie party!

  1. I love this recipe and I’ve ordered the stuff today. I have a question though in the instruction. How long to wait to layer the clear part on top of the red without it blending wrong? Do you do it right away or wait 5-10 minutes for the red to set?

  2. Is there a trick to get rose petals from turning brown or a preferred brand? I have used them in soap before and they turn a dark brown/black color within a week.

      1. The flowers turning brown is a reaction to the lye in soaps; this effect is minimized in melt and pour soap bases. You can possibly wait for the soap to dry a bit, then push the dried flowers into the soap, so that they hold. After that, you can spray the top of the flowers with a some rubbing alcohol. If you’ve layering the soap with the dried flowers, you can try this method as well. Hope this helps!

  3. Why does the melt and pour soap have liquid leaking from it? I made these soaps, added buds and a few days after they were processed they were all “wet.” Why is that??

    1. I’m sorry to learn of this; because of the nature of melt and pour bases – they are affected by heat quite easily – soaps can produce a sweating/wet effect in warm environments. This is normal in most cases, but if you prefer to minimize this effect you can try either of our 2 low sweat melt and pour base.

  4. I have some rose petals from my garden sitting in some coconut oil. I had planned on adding them to a some soaps I’m creating with the goat milk base. Since most are referencing dried flowers, what would happen with the oil soaked petals? Thanks

    1. Fresh petals can possibly become discolored and very soft (a melting effect) quicker than dried flowers; hope this help!
