The harsh cold of winter makes hair care a nightmare. Split ends, brittle hair, dry scalp and hair loss are hair-travesties we can experience during snowy months, and each takes time from which to recover. Spring is the perfect time for hair transformation. Mild Temperatures and the coming of summer make it a perfect time to get back those luscious locks.
Many products claim to repair hair and make it shine, but many of these products use harsh chemicals that continue to damage our hair. In my experience, the most natural and sure for healthier, longer hair is to use these three essential oils.
- Cedarwood Oil has a strong aromatic scent that is woody, sweet. Cedarwood oil is known for stimulating the scalp for hair growth. Because the cold air of winter causes a dry scalp, this is the perfect oil to regulate the natural oils.
- Lavender oil sooths and moisturizes the scalp, keeping it free from dandruff. It also keeps the hair shiny by deep conditioning the hair follicles. It is also known to relieve stress and tension headaches.
- Geranuim oil- This uplifting oil has a great all-over balancing effect and this extends to the skin, especially the scalp, where it helps to create balance between oily and dry skin. It is also known to strengthen any hair type.
- Jojoba Oil moisturizes hair and adds key nutrients for growth and strength. So don’t be tricked into paying too much for hair growth products by a health food or drug store. Natural products are always best.
What would be the best or proper way to mix and apply? How often?
How many drops of each?????
I’m interested in knowing how myself. Thank you for sharing.
Hello. How to you apply these oils on human hair as well as for a pet that has itching skin? Ty
A range of 0.5 oz to 1 oz of the essential oils to a gallon of Jojoba oil is the general recommendation. You can rub it into your hair. With regard to pet hair, since these oils have not been animal tested we cannot provide advice on that.
umm, aren’t humans animals
Humans are Mammals
Not sure I understand any replies to questions…are you applying the drops directly to your scalp? If so, how are 2 to 3 drops cover entire scalp? Can you be a little more specific on this application please? Ty
A range of 0.5 oz to 1 oz of the essential oils to a gallon of Jojoba oil is the general recommendation.
2-3 drops of WHAT? What is the recipe? How much jojoba to the essential oils? 2-3 drops doesn’t explain anything. There are no quantities mentioned anywhere on this page.
A range of 0.5 oz to 1 oz of the essential oils to a gallon of Jojoba oil is the general recommendation. Also, please not that this article is not a recipe, but simply our opinion on the best oils for damaged hair.
Can I add these oils to my shampoo base?
Yes you surely can!
Can it be added to conditioner base? How much EO to 8oz. of base? Thank you!
Yes, it can be added to a conditioner base. A range of 0.5 oz to 1 oz of Essential Oil per gallon of base is suggested.
Would this same range of 0.5 oz to 1 oz be the same for fragrance oils instead of essential oils apply when added to the conditioner base?
Yup!
TY GREAT TIPS !!
Can you combine EO’s, possibly reducing overall total EO volume to shampoo or conditioner base, to address multiple issues?
Yes, it is a possibility.
Thank you!

Nice, thanks for sharing!
I love that one. Try 10 drops rosemary oil, castor oil( 3) tbls. Lavender oil , same amount, 2 Tbls. Use peppermint oil in the mix but be careful. If it gets near your eyes it’s hell. BUT IT BRINGS well needed blood circulation to the hair follicles.
Thanks for the suggestion.
