Here’s an incredibly easy, yet super impressive recipe for swirled soap bars that will leave even your biggest critics thinking you’re a soap making wiz. They’re beautiful and can be completely customized with colors and scents of your choice, so the possibilities are endless! And the best part? We’re using melt and pour bases- in the microwave. Could it be any easier?! I love any recipe that includes the word “microwave” because it immediately shortens my time in the kitchen and decreases the number of dishes and utensils that I have to clean up at the end of the process. It’s pretty fabulous.

And these little babies? They’re just so pretty. And they smell nice too. It’s a wonderful combination! I decided to use two bases, one clear and one white for a nice contrast, and colored each base with purple soap coloring so that the swirls are of a clear purple and an opaque purple. SO pretty! Did I already say that? Well, they are.

Let’s get started!

You’ll need:

Here we go!

  1. Using microwave-safe containers, melt your bases (into 2-separate containers put 8 ounces).
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of pigment with 1 tablespoon of glycerin or 99% isopropyl alcohol. Add ¼ teaspoon of dispersed color to the melted soap until you get a color you like.
  3. Add 1 ounce of fragrance oil to each melted base and stir well to incorporate.
  4. Alternating colors as you pour into the mold. Be aware of how thick your soap base is getting, you can always re-microwave if needed. You want this soap base to be about 130°F, this gives you the best swirling marks.
  5. Once your molds are filled and swirled, spritz the top of each bar with alcohol to eliminate any air bubbles that may have formed during the pouring process.
  6. Allow the bars to cool and firm up completely before freeing them from the molds. These soap bars don’t require the 4-6 week curing time like other methods do, but it is recommended to wait at least 24 hours before using them.

Enjoy!! Have fun with this recipe- each bar will be completely unique with this process so enjoy making soap that is absolutely YOU!
