Red, White, & Blue Salt Scrub Recipe

I hope you’re all enjoying your summer as much as I am! The warm weather, bright sun, pool time, and family gatherings, what’s not to love? Well here’s a little DIY salt scrub you can make with a little time you may have between all of those other fun summer activities.

You can use this salt scrub for yourself, take it to a party for a hostess gift, or even double/triple the recipe to pass little jars out as party favors. And don’t be fooled by the colors- it doesn’t have to be a holiday to represent good ole USA!

Ingredients:

1 cup Foaming Bath Butter

1/2 cup Sea Salt

2 teaspoon Jojoba Oil

1 tablespoon Raspberry Lemonade Fragrance Oil

Pigment powders in:

Matte Cobalt Blue, Matte American Red, and Matte White

Directions:

Start by whipping together the base, fragrance oil, and jojoba oil using an electric mixer. I beat the soap mixture first and then add the oils and blend because the foaming bath butter base needs to be light and fluffy (which is achieved by beating it with the mixer)

Add in the sea salt and blend until everything appears to be well incorporated.

Once the base mixture is finished, separate the scrub into three separate bowls and sprinkle in the pigment powders. I always start with a small amount of pigment (a little goes a long way!) and add more while I’m mixing until I reach the color saturation I want.

What we wanted was a very saturated color for the red and blue (like you see below), and for it to be distinctively red, white, and blue when layered in the jar- no soft, pastel colors for this recipe!

To make layering a little easier, I scooped each color into a pastry bag (or plastic baggie with the tip cut off). This made it WAY easier to layer each color and it kept the mess to a minimum.

Voila!
