Lavender Puppy Shampoo Bar– In my home, the baby runs the show. And by baby, I mean my fur baby. He’s pretty much in charge and we’re okay with that. I mean, with a face as cute as his, how could we not be? Yep, I’ll be the first to admit that we’ve become THOSE people. The ones that make sure our little guy is leading the life of a king (because he pretty much is). Special treats, special food, tons of toys, a fluffy pillow to sit upon, and a wardrobe any stylish pooch would envy. So it only makes sense that since I make soap for our own use, I make a special blend just for him.
Stepping away from the normal liquid pet shampoo, I tried this bar soap recipe and honestly, I couldn’t be happier that I did! At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d like lathering up a bar of soap during bath time instead of just quickly pouring it all over him and scrubbing, especially since sometimes- he’s just not in the mood to cooperate (I’m sure all of you pet owners out there can sympathize!). Turns out- he actually liked it more! To get a lather going I used the bar to massage his coat while he was standing under the warm water and he LOVED it. Warm water + massage = one happy pup.
The recipe is a simple melt and pours that can be accomplished in minutes and the smell is wonderful and fresh. Whip some up and try it for yourself!
Lavender Puppy Shampoo Bar
Ingredients-
- 4 oz. Melt & pour glycerin soap base (I used All Natural Sulfate Free Stephenson Melt and Pour Base)
- 1 tablespoon castor oil
- 1/8 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 1/4 teaspoon liquid glycerin
- 20 drops lavender essential oil
Directions:
- To begin, chop the soap base into evenly sized cubes for melting.
- Place cubes in a microwave-safe bowl and heat using short intervals until cubes have completely melted.
- Remove the melted base from the microwave and add the remaining ingredients, stirring to be sure all components have blended evenly.
- Carefully pour into soap molds and allow to harden completely before use (remember- MP soaps don’t require curing time!). See, told you it was simple.
I always prep my space for bath time because dogs don’t tend to have patience. That water has to feel nice and warm as soon as I put him in the sink for him to relax and start to enjoy it (making the entire process MUCH easier for me!).
Place your pup in the sink (or tub if you have a dog bigger than mine). Is he not the cutest 🙂
Hose down your pup. And laugh a little at how funny he looks completely soaked.
Start to lather him up! Like I said, I found this worked best by using the bar to gently massage his coat. I worked up a lather in my hands first and then rubbed the soapy sudsy bar into his fur, which made a nice lather all over him. He loved it. He didn’t even try to escape!
Finish:
Rinse, dry, and fluff your pup! Option to add accessories if you’d like 🙂
Hope your fur baby enjoys this Lavender Puppy Shampoo Bar recipe as much as mine did!
